Memories (LOOOOONG!!!!!)

I don't remember when we officially met, but what I know for sure is that I was obsessed with Minimoni and Aya Matsuura. I didn't watch ASAYAN, but Morning Musume would be on Utaban and I loved how Taka-san and Nakai-kun endlessly teased them. After that, since my brother and I used to read CoroCoro Comic, I got into Inazuma Eleven and naturally became a huge fan of Berryz Kobo. Momochi even went on variety shows like Mechaike and went wild in a way you'd never expect from an idol. At the end of 2010, during that long-running music award show the Japan Record Awards, S/mileage performed 'Yumemiru fifteen' and it made me think, 'Man, Hello! Project is still so good.' I was around the same age, so I remember sitting glued in front of the TV watching it. Back then, other idol groups were surging hard, and while Morning Musume wasn't in their so-called 'dark age,' they definitely tended to get overshadowed. The songs coming out around that era are actually pretty incredible when you listen to them now, though. After that, we fast-forward to 2019 around the time BEYOOOOONDS was named. In between, because I picked up the electric guitar in junior high, I fell deep into Japanese rock, followed by 80s HR/HM, black music, fusion—basically listening to endless foreign music. What sparked me to dive back into learning more about Hello! Project was a press release announcing that a currently active unit was going to be called BEYOOOOONDS. It became a hot topic article because the 'name was weird,' and it just happened to catch my eye. I remember it like yesterday thinking, 'What! They finally managed to become Hello! Project idols, and now they're stuck with such a weird name, poor things.' That's when I started digging into Hello! Project all over again, sliding headfirst down an impossibly deep rabbit hole.
